In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at autumn, Alex Filz, Spotlight on Snapchat, Filmic Pro/Firstlight and a 2020 gift suggestion thread.
- Alan Taylor presents 21 photos of Autumn Colors and Autumn Chill. "Get cozy in a warm sweater and enjoy this batch of recent fall photos," he writes.
- Alex Filz hazarded the Schnals Valley Glacier Ridge in South Tyrol, Italy, for these images of a new viewing platform. "The unique platform creates a fully immersive, sensual experience in which time stands still for a moment and every other souvenir is eclipsed," explain the architects.
- In Introducing Spotlight on Snapchat, Snap invites you to submit your best videos for the opportunity to earn a share of more than $1 million it's distributing to creators every day:
- Kirk Tuck breaks down and spends $7.95 on Filmic Pro to enjoy "complete and easy-to-use manual control of all the video settings on my iPhone XR." And then, hoping for the same boost for stills, he discovered Firstlight.
- The Reddit 2020 Gift Suggestion Thread for photography has over 100 suggestions organized by price and links to past years' suggestions back to 2012.
More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look three years back. And please support our efforts...
