In a blog post today, Sharad Mangalick announced Adobe has released Lightroom as a native app for both Apple M1 and Windows Arm devices. The company said Lightroom was rebuilt to take advantage of the newest performance and power efficiency benefits of the Apple M1 on macOS and Qualcomm Snapdragon on Windows 10 processors.

While the Photoshop M1 compile remains a beta, the company did update the current macOS to v22.1 with support for new cameras and lenses, HEIC support on Windows, the ability to cancel a cloud document download and a few bug fixes.

Additional updates released today include:

  • Apple ProRaw format support for Camera Raw, Lightroom Classic and Lightroom. "ProRaw is built using the Adobe DNG file format and specification," Mangalick noted.
  • New Lightroom widgets for iOS 14.
  • A free Lightroom Starter plan for Lightroom desktop (Mac and Windows) for new customers based in Australia and New Zealand.
