In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at the City of Angels, 15 fashion photographers, color grading, Grant Scott, Leica Perspective Control and the Sigma 65mm f2 DG DN.
- The City of Angels "explores the bond of humanity and our environment by pushing the boundaries of creative mediums and perspectives of Brandon Boyd, Brian Bowen Smith, and Stephen Vanasco." Smith confides, "Every once in a while, I will see a face and can recognize that my angels are endearing and powerful women."
- Jasenka Grujin lists 15 Fashion Photographers to Follow on Instagram, "all great examples of successful artists who have reached a wide audience on social media."
- Julie Powell presents the first part of a three-part series on Color Grading in Photoshop. The first deals with selective color, channel balance and white balance in just over six minutes:
- The 21st Century Photographer Needs to Be a Visual Storyteller, Visual Problem Solver and a Visual Linguist, according to Grant Scott, founder of United Nations of Photography and a senior lecturer and subject co-ordinator of photography at Oxford Brookes University, Oxford.
- Janina Mock shows off (in German) the Perspective Control built into the Leica M Series via a firmware update available on the same page:
- Kirk Tuck falls in love with the $700 Sigma 65mm f2 DG DN. "I found the lens a delight from two points of view," he writes. "First, I liked the focal length and framing. Secondly, I loved the whole idea of a reasonably fast, perfectly sized and masterfully built lens on the front of my camera."
More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
