In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at wild dreams, a virtual gallery, Photo's adjustable filters, Horses for Heroes, the PrismFX Radiant Filter, yellow and Capture One.
- In Photographers Turn Kids Into Life-Like Versions of Their Wildest Dreams, an Atlanta couple takes portraits of kids as they imagine themselves to be. They've released a book of them called Glory.
- Jack Siegel describes Using a Virtual Gallery to Display Photographs. He pays a monthly fee to use Kunstmatrix. "Its Web-based solution for presenting artwork surprises and delights both photographers and their audiences," he writes.
- Derrick Story discovers Adjustable Filters Are Big Improvement to Photos. You can now soften the effect of any filter with a slider.
- Joe McNally took A Portrait Before the Storm. Rick Iannucci and Nancy De Santis "run Horses for Heroes in Santa Fe and work with both active and retired military, showing them the way of the horse and ranch life and try to help them heal from the devastation of war."
- Chris Gampat likes the PrismFX Radiant Filter. It's not just a sunburst filter, he writes. It rotates to render the effect differently.
- Harold Davis dips into Mellow Yellow for his latest color-themed presentation.
- Upgrades to Capture One are being discounted 30 percent in anticipation of a new release "next month." Use the code SAVE30 at checkout.
