In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Brian Griffin, six photographers, Brendan George Ko, third-party mirrorless lenses, Apple ProRaw, your Web site, Shotcut, BorrowLenses and Rocky Nook.
- The Guardian has published a selection of amusing images from Brian Griffin's autobiography Black Country DADA, which covers his career from 1969-1990.
- In How the Pandemic Disrupted the Way These Photographers Created & Their Takeaways for the Future, Adobe highlights the story of photographers Alexis Hunley, George Turner, Erin Ng, Christina Poku, Curt Saunders and John Wu.
- In The New Yorker: Brendan George Ko, Heidi Volpe interviews Brendan George Ko about Saving the Butterfly Forest, his shoot for the New Yorker.
- In Third-Party Lenses for Nikon Z, Canon RF, Sony E, Fujifilm GF Mirrorless Cameras, Lloyd Chambers presents an image and link to each lens.
- Andrew Hoyle shows how Apple ProRaw Can Transform Your iPhone Photography. He uses Lightroom to process the image data. "It's worth remembering, though, that I've been using ProRaw in beta form and Adobe is yet to update Lightroom to properly support the files," he writes. Still.
- Dave Williams explains why Web Sites Matter. And just what pages they should have.
- Shotcut is a free, open source, cross-platform video editor. We were impressed by the simple Quickstart list at the bottom of the home page which lead to a set of video tutorials.
- BorrowLenses is offering up to $100 off March Rentals when you use the code GEARUP21 at checkout.
- Rocky Nook is offering up to 40 percent off on David duChemin's books this week when you use the code DDUCHEMIN40 at checkout. We reviewed his A Beautiful Anarchy in 2017.
More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
