Saturday. Running some errands. Time for lunch. We wonder if Joe's of Westlake, with its new "outdoor terrace" would have a table. We try. Thirty minutes. Too long for the lady. Back to the car.

Consolation prize: a Ferrari 458 Italia. It was parked just two rows up the hill from us so we wandered over, whipped out our spy camera (well, an iPhone 6 Plus) and took a series of shots, some of which did not have our thumb over the lens.

At the time, we only knew it was a Ferrari. But it wasn't hard to identify.

It sports a 4.5-liter V8 engine with direct fuel injection producing 562 horsepower and 398 lb.-ft. of torque sending power to the rear through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. But no turbocharging.

Still top speed hits 210 mph, getting to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds. It gets just a bit under 18 miles a gallon.

About 15,000 were produced between 2009 and 2015, succeeding the F430 and replaced by the 488 GTB. It won Car of the Year 2009 and Supercar of the Year. From the grill this one looks like it was built no later than 2013.

Donato Coco was responsible for the design in collaboration with Pininfarina. Some models had a retractable hard top and if you look closely at the hood, you'll see stabilizer wings are built into the design.

But enough car talk. It's red. With lots of little horses on it.

One you may not notice unless we point it out: the valve stem cap have the Ferrari emblem on them, too. Hate to lose one of those. Probably not covered by insurance.

We found 78 of them for sale, ranging in price from $109,000 to $700,000. Valve caps, presumably, included.

Somehow, though, we had lost our appetite by then.
