The weather has turned here. As the heat of the Central Valley hits the cool air blowing in from the Pacific Ocean, we get fog all day. We've also been battered lately by strong onshore winds. But one day this week, we had sun all day with little more than a breeze.
So we took a walk around the nearby neighborhood with our Nikon D300 and 18-200mm Nikkor. Nobody would sacrifice their first born for that setup now but it was a head-turner in its day. Not surprisingly, the image resolution demands of Photo Corners do not tax it.
And we are never short of subjects, even during a quarantine. Even though things are loosening up a bit now, we're still being cautious. We have too many compromised people relying on us to test the waters.
But we do take a walk every day and this was a great day for a walk.
We thought we might visit that window with the grand piano in it. And we did, but it has been covered and in a shadowed room since the time we first saw it lit from behind with the top up (and the matron looking at us from the window upstairs). So we still haven't gotten the shot.
But we got a few others. Whatever caught our eye. Not National Geographic stuff but stuff all the same. And we had a ball editing them in Lightroom Classic.
We had to bring them back into the realm of the visible. Highlights were blown, shadows buried. But we managed.
We did a little perspective correction on some of the buildings too. It's an essential tool for us. And despite the clear weather, we used Dehaze on more than a few of these. Go ahead, edit your image and at the end, try it.
We don't live in this neighborhood but we are neighbors. And that's good enough for us.
