In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at color, camera companies at the Tokyo Olympics, Chandler Moore, an estimate, plug-ins and a Rocky Nook discount.
- In Eyeballing Some Expressive Color Processing, Jim Kasson presents a palette of portrait color renderings. "I'm not providing any conclusions; this kind of thing is very personal. Judge for yourself," he writes. Although it does remind us of the adage that no one ever got fired for warming up a portrait a bit.
- In The Stockpile of Sony and Nikon Gear at the Tokyo Olympics, Dan Havlik shares behind-the-scenes shots of Sony and Nikon support teams with a link to Canon's operation, too.
- In Behind the Shoot With Chandler Moore, music photographer Meg Mccauley describes a pandemic shoot. "This shoot will always live with me, because we were total strangers. We were in a pandemic. And we created something in my house," she writes.
- Ryan Sheffield prices a Social Media Shoot for International Beverage Brand at $8,680. The licensing involved Web advertising use of up to two 15-second videos on TikTok for three months and Web collateral use in perpetuity.
- In Find Your Perfect Plug-In, Adobe provides links to thousands of Creative Cloud plug-ins, organized by category.
- During its Summer Sale, Rocky Nook is offering 40 percent discounts on any of its titles when you use code SUMMER21 at checkout. No expiration date mentioned.
