In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Kenya, Maui, selecting the sky, a Sigma fp firmware update, Masumi Shiohara and motorcycle vibrations.
- Jürgen Wettke and Richard Konecky document The Diversity of Kenya using aerial photography. "For me," Konecky says, "the biggest challenge was to get tack-sharp images in a moving, shaking helicopter."
- Derrick Story practices Anti Street Photography in Maui. He's "nowhere near pavement," he says but he keeps shooting with his iPhone and an Olympus Tough.
- Scott Kelby discovers The Best New Photoshop Feature You Didn't Even Know Was There. The short version: Select Sky. The 1:44 video:
- Kirk Tuck likes his Sigma fp even more after a firmware update. He paired it with a Panasonic 24-105mm f4.0 lens to see how much Monochrome mode had improved.
- Masumi Shiohara's Photographic Botanical Art expresses "the beauty of plants using modern, photographic technology and digital editing," he says.
- Apple has warned iPhone owners against Exposure to Vibrations "like those generated by high-powered motorcycle engines." They can damage the optical image stabilization and closed-loop autofocus systems in the camera.
