In an email to its customers late yesterday, Tinybeans CEO Eddie Geller announced the company will move from "the current free photo sharing experience to a paid-only model." The company will transition to a new paid product called Tinybeans Beanstalk, which will go beyond photo sharing to include a range of "new parenting-related features over the coming months."
Current users will have to subscribe to the new service to continue uploading and sharing photos but just one family member per album/journal is required. "Family and friends that are invited to view the album/journal won't require their own paid subscription," he wrote.
He concluded, "We appreciate that some of you may be disappointed with the decision. We've spent months in planning and researching the shift, all with the goal of creating an incredibly positive experience for you and your family. I hope you give Tinybeans Beanstalk a try and just know that, if after trying it, you want to cancel, you can do that and we won't charge you."

A Note from Our CEO About Tinybeans’ Future!
Tinybeans Members,
There are many changes happening at Tinybeans and we know there's been some confusion.
I, along with the rest of the Tinybeans team, am on a mission to improve the world of parenting by enriching the lives of everyone raising children. As part of the acquisition of Red Tricycle back in 2020, our strategy and plans evolved -- as did the value we could provide parents and families everywhere.
Tinybeans is on its way to becoming much more than a photo-sharing app and as always, we promise to keep your data private and your photo-sharing experience simple and easy.
To continue growing and becoming the go-to-resource for parents, we're moving the current free photo sharing experience to a paid-only model. As part of this transition, we've made the decision to launch a subscription service called "Tinybeans Beanstalk," which goes a long way toward offering parents a compelling experience to assist in the journey of parenthood. Beyond photo sharing, we're introducing a range of new parenting-related features over the coming months and I can't wait for you to see them all. Beanstalk will be a paid product, which means that moving forward, it will no longer be free to share photos/videos on Tinybeans. If you are already a paying member, through our retired product Family Premium, there will be no changes to your experience.
I understand your concerns with the changes we're making. Many of you started with us on a free app for sharing photos. Now that we are changing, you might think you will no longer be able to access your photos for free. Don't worry! We know how important those memories are and you won't lose access to any of your photos. But you will need to start a subscription to keep uploading and sharing in the future. We've answered many questions on this FAQ page. Should you have more specific ones, please contact our customer support by replying to this email. Note that only one person will need to pay for the subscription per album/journal to upload photos and videos. Family and friends that are invited to view the album/journal won't require their own paid subscription.
In addition to debuting an amazing new user experience over the next few months, this move also enables us to create a sustainable way to grow our company and invest in creating the best product for parents.
We appreciate that some of you may be disappointed with the decision. We've spent months in planning and researching the shift, all with the goal of creating an incredibly positive experience for you and your family. I hope you give Tinybeans Beanstalk a try and just know that, if after trying it, you want to cancel, you can do that and we won't charge you.
We appreciate the time you have given us and hope you will try us again in the future!
We have learned so much over the years about the needs of parents, because of members like you. We hope you will try the next evolution of Tinybeans to see if it can continue to benefit you in new ways.
Striving to become a great parent!
Eddie Geller
