In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at the week in photos, the LA Six, 300 African artists and Chinese lenses.

  • Alan Taylor presents 35 Photos of the Week featuring the finish line of the 125th Boston Marathon, a pickle factory in Taiwan, a mock-up of Mars in Israel, giant hyperrealistic sculptures in London, valley fog in rural Maine, a Radio City Rockettes rehearsal, the North American Wife Carrying Championship and a few more.
  • In Alternative Los Angeles, Sarah Gilbert showcases the often brutal but sometimes touching images by the LA Six of street life among the outsiders and marginalized of the city.
  • Grace Ebert highlights the publication of an art book showcasing the work of 300 African Artists in 352 pages with 315 illustrations. African Artists: From 1882 to Now, which will be published Nov. 17 by Phaidon, includes the work of photographer David Goldblatt, among others.
  • A Reddit discussion about Chinese Lenses from Laowa, Viltrox, 7artisan, TTartisan and Mitakon nicely covers the pluses and minuses of these inexpensive alternatives.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
