In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Rich Stapleton, Tom Wood, Mars, a $15K estimate, a full moon time lapse and next week's macOS updates.
- Stephanie Wade features the Beautiful and Considered Images of Los Angeles-based British photographer Rich Stapleton. She finds it "a captivating mix of imagery that combines sophisticated fashion editorials, minimal interiors, monochromatic portraiture, and still lifes."
- In Fair Play, the Guardian presents images from Tom Wood's new book Irish Work. Wood's mother was Catholic and his father Protestant, forcing them to emigrate to England but his "return trips inspired him like nowhere else."
- NASA's Perseverance rover captures the Sounds of Mars with two off-the-shelf microphones. The 3:15 video includes various stills of the Red Planet accompanying the audio:
- Craig Oppenheimer negotiates a one-day shoot for Industrial Food Images at $15,500, which included $200 for unforeseen expenses.
- Videographer Andrew Bland captured this week's Full Moon Over Mount Sutro in a time lapse video:
- Howard Oakley details What's Really Coming in Monterey and Other macOS Updates. And what will have to wait, too. He also manages to delineate which features are supported on which models in two charts.
More to come, including (in a few minutes) test drives of DxO's new PhotoLab 5 and FilmPack 6! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
