In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Paul Guilmoth, Hashim Badani, photo trades, reordering photos in Lighroom, stitching photos with PTGui and the White House at Christmas.
- In Step Into the Night, the Guardian presents a selection of images from Paul Guilmoth's photo book At Night Gardens Grow. The intimate portraits are of his neighbors on the island where he cared for Trula Drinkard-Goolsby.
- Heidi Volpe interviews Hashim Badani about 30 Moons Apart, a pandemic photo project shot through a telescope. The "seemingly unreachable" subjects were still familiar. "Much like the moon," he says.
- Dave Williams discusses Photo Trades or gifting and trading photography. "No amount of money can buy you a tour with a Search and Rescue team," he writes. But offering to take photos of them did.
- Julieanne Kost demonstrates Rapidly Reordering Photos in Collections in Lightroom Classic without dragging them.
- Jim Kasson experiments with Scanning 4x5 TMax 100 and Stitching With PTGui. "It does complicate the workflow a bit, but not nearly as much as pixel shifting," he writes.
- Jill Biden Decks the White House Halls for Christmas with the theme Gifts from the Heart using 6,000 ft. of ribbon, over 300 candles and more than 10,000 ornaments on 41 Christmas trees. Some of those ornaments are framed photos of past presidents. Others are gold stars honoring fallen members of the military.
