The International Center of Photography has announced the honorees of its 38th Annual Infinity Awards are Sebastião Salgado, Sky Hopinka, Esther Horvath and Acacia Johnson.
"This year, we honor artists whose photographs focus on environmental justice, climate change, conservation and related environmental issues -- among the most critical concerns of our time and our future," said David E. Little, ICP executive director. "We are proud to recognize the achievements of these talented photographers who create compelling images and stories that demonstrate that photography is among the most critical art forms of empowerment and catalysts for social change."

The 2022 Infinity Award categories and recipients are:
- Lifetime Achievement: Sebastião Salgado
- Art: Sky Hopinka
- Emerging Photographer: Esther Horvath
- Documentary Practice and Photojournalism: Acacia Johnson
The April 25 award event is ICP's largest fundraiser and benefits its full range of education and exhibition programs. This year's in-person event will be the first since a virtual ceremony was held in May 2020.

ICP Infinity Awards to Honor Sebastião Salgado, Sky Hopinka, Esther Horvath and Acacia Johnson
NEW YORK -- The International Center of Photography, the world's leading museum and school dedicated to photography and visual culture, has announced the honorees of its annual Infinity Awards, the leading honor for excellence in the field. The 38th Annual Infinity Awards will be held on the evening of Monday, April 25 at Ziegfeld Ballroom (141 West 54th Street, New York City). This event is ICP's largest fundraiser and benefits its full range of education and exhibition programs. This year's in-person event will be the first since a virtual ceremony was held in May 2020.

The Infinity Award honorees in the Art, Emerging Photographer and Documentary Practice and Photojournalism categories were chosen by a selection committee composed of David Campany, Managing Director of Programs, ICP; Clara Kim, The Daskalopoulous Senior Curator, International Art, Tate Modern; Eva Respini, Barbara Lee Chief Curator, ICA/Boston; and Dominique Hildebrand, Photo Editor, National Geographic.
The non-juried Infinity Awards were selected by ICP's Board of Trustees to acknowledge major achievements in photography and to honor Cornell Capa, who founded ICP in 1974 to preserve the legacy of "concerned photography" -- the creation of socially and politically minded images that have the potential to educate and change the world. Since 1985, the Infinity Awards have recognized major contributions and emerging talent in the fields of photojournalism, art, fashion photography and publishing.
The Infinity Awards Chair is ICP Trustee Diane Tuft. The event's Honorary Committee members include Djeneba Aduayom, Sade Baderinwa, Alexandra Bell, Isolde Brielmaier, Kimberly Drew, Jess T.
