We were walking back to the parking garage when we came across this familiar plea. "No Junk Mail, Please." Who hasn't beseeched the universe for a similar small blessing?

No Junk. iPhone 6 Plus capture edited in Adobe Camera Raw.

Given the rough neighborhood, though, it was no shock that the "M" had been appropriated. "No junk ale, please." Just the good stuff, in short.

But there was art in the graphics, so we stood there a minute pondering the problem.

One solution would simply have been to have put the letters (well, most of them) on the neighboring mail slot. "Junk Mail, Please," it would have directed.

Of course, that neighbor would have objected to the arrangement within a few hours.

But the request itself really isn't reasonable.

There just isn't any legitimate way for a postal carrier to not deliver mail addressed to a particular address. It's illegal.

A better solution to this problem would have been the purchase of a parakeet. The junk mail would consequently have been welcomed as cage liner, which can never be replaced too frequently.

Parakeets eat, unfortunately, creating an unwelcomed expense. So as "better solutions" go, this one doesn't really fly.

Maybe the best solution would be to follow the advice of the Federal Trade Commission in How to Stop Junk Mail. You may not entirely eliminate it but it may eventually, one day, be reduced enough to fit in your mail box.
