In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Pinhole Day, the Solarcan Puck, Micro Four Thirds lenses, Retouch4me and metameric errors.
- In Celebrating Pinhole Day, Lensbaby presents some of its favorite Obscura captures. Pinhole Day was April 24. You can see more Pinhole Day images on the Pinhole Photography Day site (use the triangles on the first row to navigate the small images).
- Mike Tomkins reviews the $28 Solarcan Puck, a pinhole camera built into a 2 oz. aluminum housing that produces an image on photo paper without processing after a day long exposure.
- Derrick Story lists Six Great Micro Four Thirds Lenses for the Olympus system, one of which is a Panasonic lens.
- The Phoblographer reviews Retouch4me, "a new AI-driven option that aims to reduce editing time while leaving skin texture intact significantly." The suite of plug-ins was tested with Photoshop, Capture One and Lightroom.
- In Observer Metameric Error in Simulated Cameras, Jim Kasson reaches three tentative conclusions, one of which is a surprise. He runs the data through over 40 simulated cameras, producing a bar chart showing the mean color error for each.
More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
