14 July 2022

The Pixelmator Team has announced the release of Pixelmator 2.7, its simple touch and layer-based image editor, with a refreshed user interface, faster graphics processing using Apple's Metal engine and compatibility with Pixelmator Pro files.

HIGHLIGHTS

Details of the new features include:

  • Refreshed Design: The new design matches the look of iOS 15 and makes Pixelmator for iOS easier to use, the team said. "We've added handy new features, usability improvements, and updated the design of menus and buttons to feel right at home on the latest versions of iOS."
  • Performance Improvements: Thanks to Metal graphics technology, Pixelmator for iOS is now even faster than before with performance improvements across the board and most significantly in the painting engine.
  • Initial Support for Pixelmator Pro Documents: Pixelmator for iOS can now open and export Pixelmator Pro documents. The team is calling this "initial support" because "a number of different things aren't fully supported, but it's now much easier to use Pixelmator for iOS in workflows with Pixelmator Pro."
