Sufferin' Succotash! Share This on LinkedIn   Tweet This   Forward This

Long before we mastered the art of cursing (which frankly didn't take long), we would exclaim like a cartoon character, "Sufferin' Succotash!" when the mood struck us.

Sufferin' Succotash!. Nikon D300 with 50mm f1.4 Nikkor at f2.5, 1/60 second and ISO 200. Processed in Adobe Camera Raw.

And even though we had little notion of suffering nor any clue what succotash* is, it was all we could come up with in the face of desperation, with which we were already familiar.

Babies, after all, are born crying.

But by the time we become adults most of us learn not to wake up in the morning wailing for a bottle. Instead, we roll out of bed and stumble silently into the kitchen to make coffee.

Which is what we were up to yesterday morning when we saw this vision confronting our still bleary gaze.

Sufferin' succotash, it looked like a party.

We had to laugh, put the coffee expedition on hold and grab a camera to memorialize the happy arrangement.

It was all downhill after that.
