A NOTE

In the past (since Elements was first announced), we've reviewed the product, with the exception of last year when we did not publish the review we wrote. We simply couldn't get enough flying time on the hardware we use to review the product.

Elements has always distinguished itself on three fronts:

  • It includes the Camera Raw code in Photoshop and Lightroom
  • It teaches photo editing while making sophisticated effects easy
  • It remains subscription based (although updates are $99/year, much like a subscription

But, apart from Guided Edits, the teaching aspect of the bundle has taken a back seat to the fireworks. That has pushed development in a different direction that requires a lot more horsepower than the family home computer we typically see gathering dust.

When we look out the window at all the Porsche SUVs, Mercedes SUVs, Levus SUVs, Tesla SUVs dropping kids off at the grammar school, we realize a lot of families don't live in a Honda/Toyota/Ford world.

Presumably they update their home computers as often as their iPhones. Running Elements 2023 on them wouldn't be a stretch.

But as we wrote in our unpublished conclusion last year about the memory maker Adobe is chasing:

We'd be more than amused to see a memory maker try something like Exposure X7, which has much more modest system requirements yet provides some stunning visual effects. They might just really amaze their friends.

So while we continue to commend Adobe on addressing the needs of the memory keeper (not all of whom are 40ish females, Adobe), we remain disappointed to see the system requirements become more and more onerous.

We've always recommended purchasing the bundle of Photoshop Elements 2023 and Premiere Elements 2023 together. That hasn't changed.

PRICE, AVAILABILITY

Photoshop Elements 2023 and Premiere Elements 2023 are now available for $99.99 each or bundled for $149.99. Adorama, Amazon and B&H are both now accepting orders.
