In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Zac Henderson, the Wessing portraits, HDR Merge, chromatic aberration and a retouching question.

  • Kate Mothes features Alabama-based photographer Zac Henderson's images of Magnets and Metallic Particles from his series %5FDark Matter III_. "Around 40 photos taken at different focal points are layered into one composite, giving each image immense clarity with emphasis on detail and texture," she writes.
  • In Striking Moments, Mee-Lai Stone presents the winners of the Wessing photographic portrait prize. The winning portraits exhibition will be open at Cromwell Place arts hub, London, from Oct. 27 to Dec. 18.
  • Mike Johnston gives HDR Merge in ACR a whirl on three images. "The interesting thing about this is that I made all three pictures handheld rather than on the tripod," he writes.
  • Dahlia Ambrose tackles Chromatic Aberration. "If you find chromatic aberration in your images, do not panic as it is quite easy to minimize or fix," she writes. And she shows you how.
  • A Reddit poster wants to know if Asking to Edit Wedding Photos is offensive. She's asked a professional retoucher to doctor the floral display where a few blossoms were missing or wilted. They told her to ask her photographer (who doesn't do retouching) for permission. But she hasn't heard back from the photographer.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
