In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Grace Lau, a drop of seawater, testing a theory and two Kelby tips.
- To celebrate the lunar new year, Grace Lau will recreate a 19th-century Chinese portrait studio in a Southampton shopping center to make free Portraits in a Chinese Studio of passersby. The slide show presents her similar effort in 2005.
- In These Gorgeous Photos Capture Life Inside a Drop of Seawater, Jennie Rothenberg Gritz explores the macro images of Spanish wildlife photographer Angel Fitor. "I imagined each water droplet as an aquarium," he says.
- Kirk Tuck goes on A Quick Outing to Test a Theory. A friend claimed it is "almost impossible to photograph people in the street" without getting the "stink eye" just for carrying a camera. So Tuck shot for half on hour getting about 10 encounters, none of them confrontational. He thinks he knows why he had such a different reaction from his friend.
- Scott Kelby has A Quick iPhone Photography Tip that, in fact, is the only way we can reliably get the shutter on our iPhone 6 Plus to fire in landscape mode. But the real reason to click through is his Killer Photoshop Tip for removing utility wires from a shot using Photoshop.
More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
