In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Picturing High Streets, Black farmers, Tourist Central, clouds long exposures and Greta Rico.

  • Sarah Gilbert presents images from Picturing High Streets, a three-year project led by Historic England to show the rich diversity of modern English towns. Selections are touring England in a major exhibition.
  • In What It's Like to Be a Black Farmer in Oklahoma, Adam Kemp talks to photographer Nicol Ragland about "her deep interest in the environment, the throughlines of her work in soil health and why she continues to document stories of Black farming in Oklahoma and solutions toward equity."
  • Kirk Tuck walked down S. Congress Ave. (aka Tourist Central) looking for Something a Bit Different to shoot with his Sigma fp and 45mm f2.8 Sigma lens.
  • Jasenka Grujin showcases 21 Amazing Long Exposure Photographs of Clouds. "These soft and silky images of clouds maybe look heavily manipulated, but they can be achieved easily with the proper use of long shutter speed," she writes. Think of it as Celestial Motion Blur.
  • Chris Gampat interviews Greta Rico, another of the winners of this year’s Leica Women Foto Project, about taking photos at her cousin's funeral, which launched her Surrogate Mother project. "Personally, I have witnessed terribly difficult and painful moments and I have understood how important it is to document them, but I think the key to it all is understanding whether our work is getting in the way of people or people's integrity," she says.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
