In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at World Press Photo regional winners, LensCulture Exhibition, long exposures, discussing art, a color distraction and firmware updates.

  • Matt Fidler presents a few World Press Photo Regional Winners, some of which are "distressing," he warns.
  • LensCulture Exhibition at Photo London previews the work of 60 photographers from 25 countries on display May 10 to 14.
  • Dahlia Ambrose collects 18 Long Exposure Photographs that use a slow shutter speed creatively. "When capturing long exposure photographs, it is better to have a point of interest in the frame that should be kept in sharp focus while the movement of other elements or objects is captured," she writes.
  • David Sachs discusses The Value of Discussing Art for Photographers using three of his own images as examples. "I'll show the image first and ask that you try dissecting the piece yourself before scrolling down to read my intention of the symbols and narratives," he writes.
  • In The Distraction That Is Color, Derrick Story complains about "the over-abundance of color" in a scenic capture that he resolved with a Hoya R72 Infrared filter and the Monochrome+R film simulation of his Fujifilm X100V.
  • Howard Oakley covers Fixing Firmware Update Problems for Intel (non-T2), Intel T2, Apple silicon and Studio Displays. "Keep calm and follow the recovery procedure: it's very likely to work where panic will only make the problem worse," he advises.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
