In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at David Salcedo, Pentax K-3 III Mono samples, Voigtlander Nikon AI lenses, Thom Hogan returns and photoids.

  • Spanish photographer David Salcedo used the Ocho Puntas in Barcelona as a stage for his street photography. "This place is special for several reasons, since it is not only the centre of Barcelona, but also the region of Catalonia," he says. "It's also where a large number of visitors and workers pass through every day."

  • Mike Johnston links to Ned's Pentax K-3 III Mono Samples. Ned Bunnel "is a former President of Pentax USA," he notes. Bunnel has devoted a Flickr album to them.
  • In Voigtlander's Interesting Selection of Nikon AIs, Kirk Tuck wonders if it's smart to invest in an "antiquated" mount like the Nikon F. "The beauty of buying lenses in this mount is that because of the long distance required from the lens to the sensor they can be mounted on just about any mirrorless camera on the market for which an adapter ring is available," he answers his own question.
  • In Strange Things Said XXV, Thom Hogan takes on five more claims made without evidence. As he writes about the last, "Thought-provoking yes, but the thought that is provoked is 'stop.'" Indeed.
  • Andrew Molitor thinks We Need a Word for photographs that are not figurative. "Just as a placeholder, let's call these photorealistic figurative representations of stuff photoids," he writes.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look five years back. And please support our efforts...
