In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at the week in pictures, Maui, Black California Dreamin' and disabled Canon scanners.
- The Associated Press posts The Week in Pictures from fiery protests in Haiti, to wildfires in Hawaii, to an assassination in Ecuador. The selection was curated by AP photo editor James Okungu in New York.
- CNN updates The Deadly Maui Wildfires in pictures. "Federal officials believe thousands of people have been displaced."
- Black California Dreamin' is an exhibit at the California African American Museum in Los Angeles curated by historian Dr Alison Rose Jefferson, who collected archival photos from the Jim Crow era that bring to life the stories of African Americans who settled by the beach.
- Sean Hollister reports Canon Is Getting Away With Printers That Won't Scan Sans Ink -- but HP Might Pay.
