In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Sculpture by the Sea, beef, upscaling, incomes and sadness.
- In Sculpture by the Sea, Jessica Hromas highlights images of installations for the outdoor exhibition of sculptures along the Australian coast. On Line Clothes Swap by Lucy Barker made us smile.
- In Beef, Kirk Tuck shares some recent shots from a cooking contest he covered. "Get your white balance nailed down and everything else just falls into place," he writes. "Really, it's the color that needs attention, not noise or dynamic range or much of anything else." Although in this case you might prefer to work with a knife and fork.
- Zach Sutton asks, Do Recent Advancements in Upscaling Make the Megapixel Race Obsolete? He downsized his 100 megapixel images to 30 megapixels and then used Capture One Pro, Photoshop and Topaz Labs Gigapixel AI to upscale them back to 100 to compare with the original. Did they do the job? "Yes, I think so. As long as you have a camera that can shoot 25-30-megapixel, you should easily be able to upscale the images into larger formats without anyone noticing," he writes.
- Rob Haggart's latest income report is from a Producer who works 50 days a year for East Coast Fortune 500 clients for a six-figure annual income.
- Do You Ever Sometimes Feel a Little Sad Always Being the One Behind the Camera? asks a Reddit poster. Nice replies.
