We miss our daily walks around the neighborhood with a camera hanging from our wrist just in case we see something we want to see again and again. So we made a point of taking a couple of walks yesterday to see the Halloween decorations on both sides of Portola.
We went out mid-morning and mid-afternoon so the angle of the light was the same. We didn't want a jarring difference between, say, noon and dusk.
We've been photography Halloween decorations for a while, although we don't usually put up a slide show about it. Long enough, that is, to see the same decorations at the same locations each year.
But it's amusing when we see them displayed a little bit differently than last year.
Amusing and sometimes disappointing. It depends on how much imagination was expended.
In addition to the home-made decorations (which are our favorites), these days you can get quite an assortment of props at your Big Box Store. We see plenty of those in the neighorhood. More and more each year.
But you have to think of them as starter kits. It's what you do with them that matters.
Which applies to more things than Halloween decorations when you think about it.
