Without snow there would be no snowmen. So, we say, let it snow. Let it snow, let it snow.

Snowman. Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max back triple camera at 6.86mm, f1.8, 1/9 second and ISO 1250. Processed in Adobe Camera Raw.

The only thing that snows around here, though, are Christmas cards. But they've started falling through the mail slot.

So we do what we always do this time of year. Dust off the ceramic tray with snowmen at each end and start filling it with Christmas cards.

We'd heard great things about the iPhone 15's low light capturing ability so we thought we'd test it with a shot of our snowman. The only light was from a 60 watt bulb in a lamp across the room. It was dark.

When we examined the shot on the iPhone screen we were amazed at its sharpness.

We used macro mode in 2x telephoto, just because that composed the shot nicely. Fortunately no one was around to call 911 to accuse us of being a danger to ourselves or others.

There was some timer involved in the shot, but we didn't pay much attention because, in the dark, we couldn't see it very well.

When we examined the shot on the iPhone screen we were amazed at its sharpness.

It's not the first shot we've taken at ISO 1250 nor the first we've shot at 1/9 second. But we've never shot in the dark before either.

We did edit it in Camera Raw because we always do because it always improves the images.

In this case, the white balance was affected by the incandescent bulb. Too yellow for snow. So we correct that while we bumped up the exposure so the scene is better lit than it in fact was.

But we also used the beta Lens Blur to make the background a bit less distracting, although frankly we could have skipped that.

And we touched up the snowman in a few spots with the Healing Brush.

We were charmed. And hope you are too. Let it snow!
