In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Jupiter's Moon Io, Luca Locatellio, London pedicabs, Harold Davis, the Leica SL and $200.
- NASA has released new images of Jupiter's Moon Io (gift link), "the most volcanically active world in our solar system," Katrina Miller writes.
- The Circle is Luca Locatellio's long-term project. "My point with this project was precisely to photograph nature and technology, and to try and define a visual language where they communicate, in order to show that we can be inspired by nature for our industrial processes as well; so that we can recreate and regenerate the balance we have lost," he says.
- Disco Balls on Wheels showcases Dougie Wallace's photographs of the London pedicabs "treated legally as stage carriages due to the lack of updates in laws for more than a century."
- Unzip My Petal Heart is a Photoshop composition by Harold Davis that is part of his Impossible Images series, which is "sort of my answer to the so-called 'artificial intelligence' image creation craze: by hand, in digital post-production, using layers and masking, the old-fashioned way!"
- In A Few More Images, Kirk Tuck illustrates his feelings about the Leica SL. "The Leica SL is the best camera I have ever used for focusing and photographing with fully manual lenses," he writes.
- Mike Johnston, who is "on the fast track for a pacemaker," wants to know What Would You Do With $200? The catch is you have to spend it at B&H Photo.
