In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Ecuador, a kayak, file sizes and selling stock images.
- Suzanne Sease features portraits from Ecuador by Peter Howard. "Returning to my roots, I chose to embrace a simpler approach to photography -- one body, one lens and an old extended frame camera," he says.
- In Photographing Wildlife From a Kayak, Jon Anderson uses a kayak as photo equipment. "There are many types of kayaks available but I prefer open sit-on-top kayaks that are generally very stable and have adequate room for gear," he writes. No tripod required with "in-body and lens stabilization combined with the newer lighter telephoto lenses."
- In Why Are My Developed Files So Big? Jim Kasson blames computers for converting 14-bit camera data into 16-bit computer data.
- This Is Why I Stopped Submitting Images to Microstock, Jason Row explains. "These days the simple question is, would you want to spend hours of your time per week in return for commissions in cents?" he writes.
