In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Bedouins, a splash, abstract nature photography, photography blogs, Nikon Z9/Z8 Guide and Susan Meiselas.
- Petra Bašnáková's images of The Bedouin People in the desert near Jericho capture a difficult way of life as it slowly disappears. The photos are from Bašnáková's book Born of Sand and Sun.
- Lee Jin-Man reveals how he captured A Unique Splash at the World Aquatics Championship with an underwater camera. It took a little collaboration, he points out.
- In Capturing the Unseen, Rob Wood expolores abstract nature photography. "Abstract photography by itself is hard enough but finding abstract forms in a natural environment outside of an urban or city setting is almost beyond challenging," he writes. It's worth it, though, he concludes.
- Kirk Tuck considers The Future of Photography Blogs. "I thought it might be me but I checked in with my favorite twenty eight year old data scientist and he concurred that blogs are a dying 'art form,'" he writes. "I'd hate to be the last one out."
- Rocky Nook has published David Busch's Nikon Z9/Z8 Guide while offering 40 percent off on any camera guide when you use the coupon code CAMERA40.
- On Thursday, documentary photographer Susan Meiselas will speak at the Dryden Theater in Rochester, N.Y., continuing the Eastman Museum's Wish You Were Here photography lecture series. The museum has, in the past, recorded these talks for release on its YouTube channel.
