In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at wildflowers, stories, wacky inventions, small sensor cameras and instant cameras.
- In A Bay Area Park Begs People Not to Trample Flowers, Amanda Bartlett talks to Phil Johnson about getting Instagram influencers to respect the native plants that bloom during wildflower season. Photos by Johnson. ""There are people who think they're stepping on weeds, but really, they're just flowers that haven't bloomed yet," he says.
- In All There Is to See, Mike Johnston makes "one more little point" about the three mystery photographs he displayed the other day -- and photographs in general. "It pays, I think, to be alive to the fact that every picture at least contains the germ of its story, its facts, its meaning," he writes. In a comment John Camp tells the story of The Shoe staff photographers took on assignment with them.
- Some of the Wackiest British Inventions prove technology does not always advance.
- Chris Gampat compares the features of Small Sensor Cameras (APS-C and Micro Four Thirds) to their full frame equivalents. "All the best features end up with full-frame cameras first and the APS-C cameras aren't given enough to make them really relevant," he writes.
- Eric Ravenscraft lists the Best Instant Cameras currently available. They're mostly Fujifiml Instax models but Lomography and Polaroid break into the lineup.
