In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at 1924, the Middle East, the English steam engine scene and Apple silicon memory/storage scheme.
- In 100 Years Ago in Photos, Alan Taylor presents 32 photos from 1924 when "regular radio broadcasts were on the rise and people began tuning in to entertainment and news from around the world."
- The Associated Press has posted its Month in Pictures: Middle East curated by Oded Balilty, the AP's chief photographer for Israel, the West Bank and Gaza and Dusan Vranic, deputy news director for photography for the Middle East, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
- Robin Grierson presents The English Steam Engine Scene photographer Robin Grier has been documenting for over 30 years. His pictures record the people, their restored traction engines and the unique culture of steam heritage that draw crowds to events around the country every summer. Steam Rally will be published Mar. 30.
- In Apple Silicon: 5 Memory and Internal Storage, Howard Oakley explains how M-series Macs "store data in memory and on their internal SSDs, major determinants of both performance and energy requirements." Not like Intel Macs.
