Enhancing the enjoyment of taking pictures with news that matters, features that entertain and images that delight. Published frequently.
1 April 2024
We've just archived Volume 13, Number 3 of Photo Corners on the Archive page with 24 Features, 16 commented News stories, 26 Editor's Notes (which included 163 items of interest) and two site notes for a total of 68 stories.
Of those, 31 stories contained 119 images. We celebrated two holidays and published four stories with gear specifications tables.
Last year, we published 63 stories of which 18 were Features, 16 were News, 27 Editor's Notes had 165 items and we published one site note.
Unfortunately for us, the last day of the month was both Easter and World Backup Day.
OUR READERSHIP numbers have been consistent through the year's first months, all without any indexing by Google. That means, unfortunately, the site is invisible when you Google it. So we're not picking up new readers at the rate we used to.
Small price to pay, we think, compared to having the site repeatedly hammered by Google's indexing, which would allow us to publish only part of the month, given our bandwidth restrictions (which are rather generous).
Of note last month, our site visits were up 124 percent. And that's noteworthy only because you had much more to read in March than you did in February when we published just 53 stories, 15 fewer than last month.
OUR TOP STORIES lat month were news stories. The Affinity acquisition was followed by the BorrowLenses acquisition and the Nikon Z8 challenge at the top of the list.
The first Around The Horn came in fourth followed by our QR Code story, Nikon's acquisition of RED and the Pam Ponce matinee. After another Horn our story of setting up a keypad for Photoshop was followed by another Horn to round out the top 10.
Unfortunately for us, the last day of the month was both Easter and World Backup Day. So we didn't get to our usual archiving duties until 5 a.m. on April Fool's Day.
You might indeed think such dedication foolish but when you love what you do, you do what you love. (But we're going back to bed now.)
