In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at the eclipse, The Photography Show, Kimberley Flower Shoot, six image-sharing sites, the Epson SC-P5370 printer, external drives and anamorphic lenses.

  • Julius Constantine Motal compiles images of people watching the Total Solar Eclipse yesterday. Rachel Treisman and Grace Widyatmadja collect a few more Dazzled Viewers. And, finally, Adithi Ramakrishnan presents a few more images of Totality in North America.
  • LensCulture previews 39 images to be shown at The Photography Show in New York at the Park Avenue Armory between April 25-28.
  • Julieanne Kost goes on a Kimberley Flower Shoot and shows how she edits a few of the images in this 10:46 video:

  • Light Stalking suggests Six Image-Sharing Sites to consider: 500px, YouPic, ViewBug, Flickr, Behance and SmugMug.
  • Mark Segal reviews the 17-inch Epson SC-P5370 Printer, which he describes as "an Epson SC-P900 print system/printhead in a heavy-duty SC-P5000 chassis with built in automatic roll-holder and paper cutter." He concludes that "this is an excellent printer capable of producing stunning output."
  • Howard Oakley wonders Which External Drives Have Trim and SMART Support? "The two key facts that determine whether a Mac supports Trim and SMART are the connection type or bus and the interface used by the storage," he writes.
  • Ben Lindbergh explains the blurry backgrounds and darkened edges on your TV screen are TV's Era of the Anamorphic Lens. The distortion is a conscious attempt to add nuance to the "clean precision" of digital images.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look five years back. And please support our efforts...
