In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at animals, Ed Ruscha, natural resilience, driving and Todd Hido.
- Matt Fidler presents a selection of wildlife photos from the book Why We Photograph Animals, which features the work of over 100 photographers curated by Huw Lewis-Jones.
- In Driving Around LA With Ed Ruscha, Kirsten Lew writes, "The Streets of Los Angeles archive, housed at the Getty Research Institute, includes over 750,000 negatives, digital files, contact sheets and notebooks, many of which have been digitized and are publicly available." The Los Angeles County Museum of Art will present a Ruscha retrospective this April, she also notes.
- Rob Wood presents the winners of the Natural Resilience March photo contest at Light Stalking.
- Derrick Story explains why he's Driving to Sedona for his workshop there this year.
- In The End Sends Advance Warning Todd Hido reflects on travel, landscape, natural phenomena and memory. "We're living in a really difficult time -- there are so many sources of anxiety and very real fears, which makes it easy to feel overwhelmed," he writes. "But I think that finding hope and beauty out there in the world and showing that in images, is something that's very much needed at this moment."
More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
