You ever wonder what some people are thinking? We were crossing the street under our own power when we noticed some fellow sticking his foot out from a cable car as if he was braking it.

Stepping Out. Nikon D300 with 18-200mm Nikkor at 44mm (66mm equivalent), f8, 1/500 second and ISO 200. Processed in Adobe Camera Raw.

OK, he was probably just getting a head start on J-walking across the street as soon as the nine mph public transit slowed down enough for him to make the body roll onto the pavement.

But really?

Even the conductor wondered if there was something seriously amiss. Should he call 911? Or send a text to the crisis line? Or call in the Marines?

We didn't stick around long enough to find out.

Presumably, the fellow went to Tourist Heaven where all the angels have upgraded flight tickets and all-you-can-eat meals and hotels with 4K TVs.

It does take a pioneer spirit to board an 18th century conveyance to get anywhere these days. Especially at nine mph.

No wonder the young fellow baled on the ride downhill.
