In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at the Carnation Revolution+, LensCulture New York, AP's week in pictures, Beatlemania, the Poetry Camera and travel photography.

  • In Portugal Commemorates the Carnation Revolution, Guy Lane documents the 50th anniversary of the fall of "the longest fascist dictatorship in Europe."
  • LensCulture New York 2024 "is a group show celebrating the richness and diversity of new contemporary photography in many forms, featuring award-winning 64 photographers from 24 countries." The Caelum Gallery will host the show through April 28.
  • The Associate Press showcases its Week in Pictures: Global curated by AP photo editor Anita Baca in Mexico City.
  • In Beatlemania From the Inside, Tom Burke reviews Paul McCartney Photographs 1963–64: Eyes of the Storm, the exhibition of Paul McCartney’s photographs at the National Portrait Gallery in London. "In my view, with the exception of the car/train window shots and some of the 'geometric pattern' images, they're quite ordinary pictures," he writes. "It's the subjects' identity that makes them significant. I'm glad that Paul McCartney decided to stick with the music!"
  • Poetry Camera is an instant camera that prints poems instead of pictures. After the camera, it sends the image to GPT-4 for an analysis that OpenAI uses to generate a poem the camera subsequently prints out on its thermal printer. You can build your own, too.
  • Andrew Molitor returns from a trip to London and Paris with some thoughts on Travel Photography.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
