In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at the Comedy Pet Photo Awards finalists, Hip-Hop jewelry, Max Miechowski, Jacques Henri Lartigue and Apple Silicon.

  • The finalists for the Comedy Pet Photo Awards have been announced. You can also vote for the People's Choice Award now.
  • The Guardian presents a few images by Alvaro Keding of the American Museum of Natural History exhibit Ice Cold: An Exhibition of Hip-Hop Jewelry.
  • Sophie Wright reviews Land Loss, Max Miechowski's portrait of the British east coast gradually disappearing due to coastal erosion. "While the existential threat of erosion looms large outside of the frame, the tone of Miechowski's photographs conjure a much quieter story, indicative of the strange sense of time that characterizes life in our strange new reality," she writes.
  • Jacques Henri Lartigue and His Camera explains the distortions caused by both a focal plane shutter and camera movement in his famous photo of a race car.
  • Jason Snell examines Apple Silicon in light of the iPad Pro's M4 chip and TSMC's new 3-nanometer process.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
