In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at the week in pictures, Rencontres D'Arles, C J Foeckler, fast lenses, delivering images to smartphone customers and 20 camera straps.
- The Associated Press showcases its Week in Pictures: Global curated by AP photo editor Anita Baca in Mexico City and photojournalist Fatima Shbair.
- LensCulture selects a few preview picks from the Rencontres D'Arles Photo Festival whose theme is "Beneath the Surface."
- Suzanne Sease features Christmas Cards, the personal project of C J Foeckler. "It originally started as a joke to take a goofy portrait of myself in my single days to give to friends," he says. "It's now turned into a serious project every holiday season that friends and family eagerly await the release of. We like to 'out-do' ourselves in terms of goofiness, quirkiness or cleverness every year."
- Do You Really Need a Fast Lens? Jason Row asks. Optical stabilization and high ISO mitigate the need, he points out.
- In People Are Not Using Computers Anymore, Reddit poster complains about delivering a shoot for selection to people who "do 'computer things' exclusively on their smartphone."
- Dahlia Ambrose list the 20 Best Camera Straps currently available, broken down into four categories: neck, wrist, shoulder and harness straps.
