In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at the week in 20 photos, Austin in the heat, the Hasselblad XCD 135/2.8, dust spot headaches and your phone's photo library.
- Jim Powell curates The Week Around the World in 20 Pictures.
- Kirk Tuck wanders around Austin in 100-degree heat where he finds the contrasts profound. "I'm on a real rangefinder jag these days and couldn't think of a better hot temperature walking companion than a Leica M 240 coupled with a Carl Zeiss 35mm f2.0 ZM lens," he writes. Black-and-white slide show included.
- Jim Kasson briefly reviews the Hasselblad XCD 135/2.8 (100mm equivalent). "I won't keep you in suspense. This is a fine lens," he writes. With quite a few intriguing test shots, too.
- Lloyd Chambers reports Dust Spot Headaches with the Hasselblad X2D that he does not experience with the Fujifilm GFX100 II. That's because the Fujifilm has "a cover glass layer 9mm in front of the sensor which effectively eliminates spots on the image from dust -- the distance/spacing blurs it out. It works amazingly well; I rarely have to spot GFX images."
- J. D. Biersdorfer shows How to Clean Up Your Phone's Photo Library to Free Up Space (gift link) by deleting duplicates, bad shots and other unwanted files. She covers apps for Android devices and iOS both.
