In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Euro 2024, lighting, street photos, the Nikon 58mm f0.95 Noct, Bristol Photo Festival and t-shirts.

  • Stve Douglas presents the Associated Press images from the European Championship in which Spain defeated England 2-1 on Mikel Oyarzabal's late goal yesterday.
  • In The Lighting Is Simple but Workable, Kirk Tuck recounts how he modified harsh sunlight for a lifestyle shoot. "Part of the professional's job is to have solutions that allow us to work through the day in stride. Either by controlling existing light or adding our own to a scene. As you can see, on this shoot we chose to modify the existing light," he writes.
  • Rob Wood presents 17 Street Photos for Inspiration. Mostly of streets, too. Rather than, say, candid street photography.
  • Jim Kasson is testing the Nikon 58mm f0.95 Noct for LensRentals. He's already published interim reports on his own blog, though, this one on field flatness. Fun to follow along.
  • The World A Wave is the theme for the second edition of Bristol Photo Festival, the international biennial of contemporary photography, which will open in October.
  • A Reddit poster is appalled by the appropriation of a Copyrighted Image of the Trump shooting for T-shirts and coffee mug sales, among other things. One working photojournalist comments, "Photojournalism is work; Evan has been busting his ass for decades, made that photo in a literal life or death emergency and deserves to be credited and paid for that work."

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
