In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Evan Vucci, Jamie Hawkesworth, sports week, the Sigma fp and black-and-white photographers.

  • Kara Milstein interviews Associated Press photographer Evan Vucci about his image of a bloodied Trump raising his fist on the cover of Time magazine this week. "In my head, I just kept saying to myself, 'slow down, slow down. Compose, compose.' OK, what's gonna happen next? What's going on here? What's going on there? Just trying to get every angle on it," he says. He also talks about getting images on the wire "in a minute or two."
  • Jamie Hawkesworth's 13-year project documents the landscape, architecture and inhabitants of The British Isles. "So, I went to the train station and picked a place I hadn't been and I carried on for about 12 years," he says.
  • The Associated Press presents its Sports Week in Pictures curated by AP photographer Aijaz Rahi in New Delhi, India. Pretty busy week.
  • Kirk Tuck explains why he still uses his Sigma fp. The form factor, the color and "because its clumsy haptics and lack of a workable and streamlined EVF provide just enough operating friction to make working with the camera both a bit more challenging and, I'll admit it, weirdly fun."
  • Jasenka Grujin lists 10 Black and White Photographers she found interesting on Instagram. "You can gain ideas and get an understanding of how great black and white photos are captured by checking out the works of experienced and efficient photographers and studying them," she writes.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look four years back. And please support our efforts...
