In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at the week, the 1924 Paris Olympics, Magali Duzant, portrait photography, solar power, camera bags and backup drive size.

  • The Associated Press showcases its Week in Pictures curated by AP photo editor Anita Baca in Mexico City and photojournalist Fatima Shbair.
  • John Windmill features images from The 1924 Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony at the Stade Colombe.
  • Liz Sales reviews La Vie Is Like That, a new book by Magali Duzant. "More than a compilation of photographs and texts, La vie is like that is an art object that immerses us in a story about language, memory, identity, love and grief," she writes. "Duzant collaborated with Seaton Street Press to print the pages using a Risograph printer, applying yellows, scarlets, blues, violets, golds and blacks to each page separately to give the delicate textures, gentle color shifts and nuanced patterns in the artist's portrayal of everyday scenes a unique atmospheric aesthetic."
  • Kirk Tuck returns to a little commercial Portrait Photography with two cameras. He used his medium-format Fujifilm with a Pentax 120mm f4.0 macro lens and his M240 Leica with a Voigtlander 75mm lens.
  • In Jackery 40W Mini Solar Panel for Your Cameras and Devices, Derrick Story pairs the Jackery SolarSaga 40W Mini Solar Panel with the Jackery Explorer 100 Plus Portable Power Station to charge his cameras on the road. "The panel folds down to 10x12 inches and the mini power station is only 5.0x3.5 inches," he writes. "Together they will fit easily in any gear bag for the working photographer. Both items can be stowed in carry-on for air travel and used on location when you arrive."
  • My Name Is Kevin Raber, and I Am a Camera Bag Addict. Hi, Kevin.
  • In How Big a Backup Store Do You Need? Howard Oakley shows how to calculate your external drive size for incremental backups over any period of time.
