In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Day 11 of the Olympics, Debby, Parisienne Projections, young lovers, curves, Apple's SuperDrive and serendipity.
- The Associated Press fearures its Paris Olympics Day 11 images. And Reuters shares its Best Photos from Day 11, too.
- Guy Lane compiles images of the damage done by Tropical Storm Debby along the east coast.
- Steven Bloor compiles images from Parisienne Projections, a Getty Images project in Paris that displays the action and competitors' reactions during their Olympic competitions.
- A black-and-white image of Young Lovers Making Out in Pisa is Sherrie Nickol's best photograph, Amy Fleming reports. "All these young couples were sprawled out on the grass making out. It was a fabulous sight," Nickol says. "They were enjoying each other and didn't even notice me running over to take their picture."
- Continuing her series on Lightroom Classic, Julieanne Kost explains how to use the parametric and point curves of The Tone Curve Panel:
- Filipe EspĆ³sito reports Apple's SuperDrive for Reading Disks Seemingly Discontinued With No Inventory Online. "The product's webpage says that it's "Sold Out," and given that it's a product introduced in 2008, it seems very unlikely that Apple will ever produce new units again," he writes. We use one (with a USB-C adapter) for backups and options (with the newer USB-C connector) abound on Amazon, of course.
- A Reddit poster shares an image captured in Those Five Precious Seconds I Love About Street Photography. "A scooter, in front of a small boat, in front of a medium boat, in front of a larger boat, in front of a sail." And a few seconds later, a dog lays down in front of the scooter.
