In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at the week in photos, Day 14 at the Olympics, nanophotography, offering free school portraits and Utah's Double Arch.
- The Associated Press showcases its Week in Pictures curated by AP photo editor Eloy Martin in Madrid.
- Day 14 Olympic highlights from Associated Press photographers. Reuters adds its Best Photos of Day 14, as well, plus All a Blur at the Paris Olympics, a set of images in which blur tells the story.
- Finalists have been announced in the Nanophotography contest showcasing creativity in research for images using microscopes and other scientific tools that cannot be seen with the human eye. The Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology runs the contest each year during National Science Week.
- A corporate head shot photographer is thinking of offering Free High School Senior Photos to kids from low income households. Reddit responders give some advice about how to go about it.
- Utah's Famed 'Double Arch' Geographical Feature Collapses, National Park Service officials said on Friday. The familiar scenic location was a victim of erosion.
