In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at the iPhone Photographer Awards, the Palm Photo Prize, the AP at the DNC, Reuters at the DNC, Mother Jones at the DNC and an iPhone photo.
- Winners in the iPhone Photographer Awards have been announced. Categories include Abstract, Animals, Architecture, Children, Citylife/Cityscape, Landscape, Lifestyle, Nature, People, Portrait, Series (three images), Still Life, Travel and Other.
- The Palm Photo Prize is a biennial exhibition to support, elevate and showcase the best of the new wave of image-makers. The winners and shortlisted photographers will be featured in a group exhibition starting Sept. 5 at 10 14 Gallery in London.
- The Associated Press provides A Visual Look at the 2024 Democratic National Convention so far.
- Reuters adds 32 photos of Scenes From the Second Night Of the DNC.
- Nate Gowdy, covering the Democratic National Convention for Mother Jones, documents the protests outside and an electrified delegation inside on Day One.
- Mike Johnston shares his most recent iPhone Photo that he actually likes. "I'm terminally ambivalent about the iPhone," he writes before admitting, "I love taking pictures with the smartphone."
