In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at AP's week in pictures, Ukraine in Russia, Monday's photos, NYC subway portraits, Chaltén, the Wegman dogs, a used Leica SL2-S and headshots/portraits.

  • The Associated Press showcases its Week in Pictures curated by AP photo editor Anita Baca in Mexico City. Included is a shot of a 2,492-carat diamond (but that wasn't our favorite).
  • Reuters presents 35 photos of Ukraine's Surprise Advance Into Russia.
  • Matt Fidler curates Monday's Photos of the Day for The Guardian.
  • In Feature Life Beneath the Ruins, James Pryor presents his black and white portraits from New York City's subways that "convey a sense of spontaneity and life in the belly of the beast."
  • Heidi Volpe talk to about his Chaltén Landscapes. "The idea of hiking into a place like Los Glaciares National Park with everything you need to survive for a week, all with the goal of capturing dramatic photos, is what truly excites me," he says.
  • Mike Johnston spent A Day With the Wegman Dogs in Corning. "I enjoyed the show, but can't say I loved it," he writes. OTOH, after he test drove a Ford Mach-E, he proclaimed, "I think the Mach-E is my No. 1 favorite of all the cars I have ever driven in my entire life."
  • In New Camera Time, Kirk Tuck buys a used Leica SL2-S for its smaller files and takes a walk with temperatures in the mid-90s. "It was a good walk. It's a very good camera," he writes. "Can't wait for the next job."
  • Joe Jenkins provides a guide to Headshots and Portraits, which are, he notes, "two entirely separate things."

We're home from the hospital but not up to speed quite yet, still "enjoying" double vision and pain walking. Nevertheless there's more to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
