In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at Burning Man, Mpox, La Tomatina Festival, Emerging Photography Awards, Claudia Fuggetti, Peggy Nolan and landscape photographs.

  • In People Explore the Playa During Burning 2024, Jason Bean braves the wind and dust to capture the first day of Burning Man.
  • Freelancer Moses Sawasawa captures The Mpox Humanitarian Crisis in a single shot of 90-year-old Christophe Chavilinga. "I am convinced that even in bad news, we photographers are supposed to find something beautiful in an unfortunate story," he says. "It's a photo with a story behind it and it could also make a nice painting."
  • Eva Manez documents La Tomatina Festival in the eastern Spanish town of Bunol for Reuters.
  • Feature Shoot has announced the 15 winners of its Emerging Photography Awards. "From issues of displacement and illness to the search for identity, this year's winning photographers present relatable stories that emphasize our interconnectedness," the editors write.
  • In Metamorphosis, Sophie Wright interviews Claudia Fuggetti about her "chromatic interventions." She says, "For me, post-production is a moment when the images reveal themselves in another way. I often get lost in the post-production process, listening to music and beginning to imagine the possibilities that the photographed image can offer."
  • Flashbak features Peggy Nolan's photos of her Seven Children Coming of Age. "These photographs are mostly not posed: I just butted into my kids' personal business and, a lot of times, they weren't that happy about it," she says. "But I promised them they'd appreciate it eventually and now they do."
  • Rob Wood supplies 13 Awesome Landscape Photographs for Some Inspiration.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
