In this recurring column, we highlight a few items we've run across that don't merit a full story of their own but are interesting enough to bring to your attention. This time we look at the harvest supermoon, Warm Waters, freed prisoners, shooting exotic cars, ergonomics and manipulated photos.

  • Reuters presents Rare Harvest Supermoon Partial Lunar Eclipse from around the world.
  • Suzanne Sease features Warm Waters,, the personal project (and a book) of Vlad Sokhin documenting climate change recently featured on NPR. "Sokhin eschews the traditional format of photos with captions and location information, and instead opts for what he calls 'tonal narratives' -- unexpected visual connections across cultures, countries and, of course, bodies of water," she writes.
  • Joy Was All in the Hands so that's what Moises Castillo focused on as a group of political prisoners in Nicaragua were feed. "I had packed long lenses, expecting to photograph the plane that transported the freed prisoners on the airbase runway from far away but, in the end, that was no longer possible. Instead, they were already on a bus, and the driver was maneuvering to leave," he says. "With my Sony A1 camera and a wide-angle 35mm 1.4 lens, I began taking photos of their hands as they tried to get the attention of the few photojournalists who were there."
  • LenRentals details How Jonathan Harper Photographs Cars in Unique Ways. "In order to get the effect I currently go for, it's necessary to have both a full spectrum or IR converted camera (similar process and cost) as well as the screw on 'IR Chrome' aka blue filter," he says.
  • Jason Row discusses the importance of Camera Gear Ergonomics. "Ergonomics are, in my opinion, often overshadowed by the hype of specs and megapixels of modern marketing," he writes. But they're not to be ignored.
  • Is It True That Photographs Have Always Been Manipulated? Yes but, Mike Johnston explains.

More to come! Meanwhile, here's a look back. And please support our efforts...
